Merangin Jambi UNESCO Global Geopark Management Agency had invited as one of the speakers at the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Training activities in the Merangin Regency carried out by the Regional Disaster Management Agency.

The activity was held in the Bedeng Rejo Village office hall and attended by the Bangko's Police Chief, the Head of the Tourism and Sports Office, Indonesian National Army representatives, and 30 participants as volunteers for disaster resilience. The training activity is a follow-up to one of the recommendations of the UNESCO Global Geopark evaluator; we hope that with training activities, preventive and mitigation efforts (risk reduction) in the event of a disaster can spread by volunteers to all levels of society. So, if the worst possibility of a disaster occurs, rescue and handling efforts can carry out conveniently and quickly.

The Merangin Jambi Geopark Management Agency is one of the elements that are ready to cooperate with the Regional Disaster Management Agency because the three main pillars of the Geopark, namely conservation, education, and community empowerment, are closely related to efforts to preserve the environment and sustainable development. So, it hoped to minimize community activities, especially in farming and gardening, by clearing land patterns by burning that can be reduced or opening plantation land at landslide-prone locations.

Merangin Jambi Geopark collaborates with related parties to consistently educate the society to jointly protect the international scale of geological heritage in Bedeng Rejo Village through geotourism activities and the production of local creative economic commodities.
