Merangin, Jambi – The Merangin Jambi Geopark Management Agency accompanied a team from Depok Nature School in exploring Sengering Cave, located in the Manau River Karst area, and rafting in the Jambi fossil flora area, which has geological, biological, and cultural value, on Sunday (09/14/25).

This activity was part of an initial survey to prepare for field activities for Nature School students in the Merangin Geopark area.
The survey aimed to identify the educational potential, local wisdom, and safety of locations that will be used as means of direct learning in the open air, especially in karst areas that have high geological, biological, and cultural value. The team from Depok Nature School, consisting of educators, program managers, and students, directly assessed the condition of the caves, accessibility of the trails, and the educational potential that can be developed for the children.

This activity is expected to serve as the initial step for nature school activities in the Merangin Geopark area of Jambi. Mrs. Andri, the leader of the Nature School Team and daughter of Mr. Bambang Suko Winarno, former Regent of Sarolangun Bangko from 1987 to 1993, was very enthusiastic in encouraging the MJUGGp team accompanying her to maintain their extraordinary commitment to preserving the uniqueness and sustainability of this area as a legacy for future generations.
