Geopark Goes to School Pesantren Al-Aziziah
MERANGIN – Merangin Jambi UNESCO Global Geopark once again demonstrated its commitment to supporting sustainable education by holding the Geopark Goes to School program. This educational activity was successfully carried out at SDN 160/VI Desa Talang Paruh, [Sunday, 19 July 2026], with high enthusiasm from the students.
Introducing the Geopark Concept from an Early Age
This outreach program was specifically designed to give students a comprehensive understanding of the basic concept of a Geopark area. During the session, the facilitator team presented a brief history of how Merangin succeeded in earning and maintaining its UNESCO status, while also introducing the various unique sites of historical value at the local, national, and international levels.
Students were not only listening — they were also invited to directly explore the three main pillars that form the foundation of Geopark preservation, namely:
- Geodiversity
- Biodiversity
- Cultural Diversity

Interactive Learning Through the 'Quartet Card' Game
To ensure the material was well received by elementary school-aged children, this educational session was designed with a fun, hands-on approach. The team used an educational game called the 'Quartet Card' as a supporting tool.

Through this interactive method, students were able to memorize and become familiar with the details of Geopark sites while playing. This approach was specifically designed not only to transfer knowledge, but also to instill environmental awareness from an early age. This aligns with the core vision of Merangin Jambi UNESCO Global Geopark in realizing concrete action to support sustainable education in the surrounding area.
