Merangin, July 19-20, 2025 Geo Camp Masurai Caldera was held in the Merangin Jambi Geopark geosite area, specifically at the Danau Pauh geosite, Jangkat District
This event is a collaboration between the Merangin Jambi Geopark and the Merangin Tourism Lovers Community, supported by various parties including KNPI, Mount Masurai, PKM, AOPGI, PMII, Sigerincing Outdoor, Farenza Garden, Air Batu River, Cantigi Outdoor, Begadaw’s Outdoor, Rens Outdoor, Pansi Coffee, Kabar Merangin, Sakawanabakti, PMI, Sanggar Batin Penghulu, Sanggar Jerambah Patah, IBUM, Miss Party Decorationt, Benua Jambi, and Explore Merangin.
The event was also attended by various stakeholders, including representatives from Kerinci Seblat National Park, the Jambi Natural Resources Conservation Agency, the Merangin Production Forest Management Unit, the Merangin Jambi Geopark Management Team, communities, as well as the general public and local youth.
With the theme “the history lake, tiger, community,” Geo Camp serves as a platform for multi-stakeholder collaboration in promoting geotourism while strengthening commitment to the conservation of natural and cultural sites, Lake Pauh, and the increasingly threatened habitat of the Sumatran tiger.
During the panel discussion session, speakers from TNKS, BKSDA, and KPHP emphasized the importance of balancing natural tourism exploration with ecosystem protection.
The Merangin Jambi Geopark explained that geotourism is not only about natural beauty, but also education, conservation, and empowerment of local communities.
“We see the Pauh Lake area not only as a tourist attraction, but also as part of Merangin's geological and ecological heritage that must be preserved together,” said Misnawati, ST, Executive Chair of the Merangin Jambi Geopark.
This event also served as a platform for empowerment for the Merangin Jambi Geopark Youth Forum (Merangin Tribe), a youth organization actively involved in promoting geotourism, conservation, and environmental education. The event concluded with the planting of endemic trees in the lake area, the unveiling of the Danau Pauh icon, and a joint declaration of commitment to strengthen collaboration in conservation and sustainable geotourism.
