On Monday morning, the Geopark Goes to School team continued their journey to SDN 160 Merangin in Talang Paruh Village, Lembah Masurai District.
During his welcoming remarks, Mr. Bukhari, S.Pd., the school principal, expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the Geopark Merangin Jambi team. "Through this Goes to School program, I hope our students will better understand what a Geopark is," he stated.
In the presentation, Silvia Christalline, SE, ST, and Febra Muyu Sari, M.Sn., provided an insightful introduction to Geopark Merangin, including an overview of their designation by UNESCO. They highlighted significant sites at international, national, and local levels. The discussion covered the geodiversity, biodiversity, and cultural diversity in these areas and strategies for engaging students in their protection and preservation.
Following the session, the team conducted an educational activity titled "Geopark Merangin Jambi Snakes and Ladders." In this interactive game, students responded to questions related to the presentation, explicitly emphasizing the locations and names of the sites within Geopark Merangin Jambi as illustrated on the game board.
