Last Day of the ProKlim (Climate Village Program) Initiation Activities in Talang Paruh Village

The last day of the ProKlim (Program Kampung Iklim) initiation activities in Talang Paruh Village, Lembah Masurai District, was marked by an educational session and hands-on practice focused on waste bank management.

The first session, held at the village hall, was led by Silvi Sri Mulyani from the Merangin Geopark Management Agency. She provided valuable insights on how to manage a waste bank, covering everything from waste sorting to recording and processing recyclable materials. Participants were also invited to discuss strategies for ensuring the sustainability of the waste bank, aiming to strengthen both the village's economy and cleanliness.

After the session at the village hall, the participants proceeded to the Serintik Hujan Panas Waterfall tourist site for a simulation of waste sorting and deposit. This practical exercise was designed to teach villagers how to sort waste properly while raising awareness about how effective waste management can contribute to enhancing the village's natural tourism attractions.

The event concluded with a warm closing ceremony led by the village secretary, Mr. Mas'ud, representing the village head. During the ceremony, the Merangin Geopark Management Agency symbolically handed over scales and basic operational tools to the Waste Bank committee, as a sign of commitment to the ongoing implementation of the ProKlim program in Talang Paruh Village.

The Merangin Geopark Management Agency expressed its gratitude to the community for their active participation throughout the program. This initiative is hoped to serve as a concrete first step in transforming Talang Paruh Village into a model ecotourism village with community-based environmental management.
