Spectacular! Merangin Jambi Geopark Wins First Place in the World for Best Practice Award 2023

Another one dedicated to the Republic of Indonesia, Merangin Jambi UNESCO Global Geopark (MJUGGp) succeeded in becoming First Place in the world in the 2023 Best Practice Award category.

The Indonesian flag flew again and became the center of attention at the GGN International Conference series of events at the UNESCO Global Geopark Award event which was held in Marrakech - Morocco.

After receiving a membership charter in the UNESCO Global Geopark, Merangin Jambi UNESCO Global Geopark (MJUGGp) was also named first place in the 2023 Best Practice Award.

An extraordinary achievement, where the long journey of the Merangin Jambi Geopark was quite difficult and was postponed during the first attempt in 2014 to be able to join as a member of the UGGp.

General Manager of the Merangin Jambi UNESCO Global Geopark Management Agency, Dr. Agus, S.Sos., M.Hum said that this was an achievement and a gift for the dedication of the entire Merangin Geopark team.

"Congratulations to the great team of Merangin Jambi Geopark, wherever you are.

You have made world history through the Merangin Jambi Geopark. "Allow me to raise the Indonesian flag on behalf of you great team for Merangin Jambi Geopark as an Institutional Member of the Global Geopark Network," said Dr. Agus, S.Sos., M.Hum in a short message.

This achievement cannot be separated from the role of all the Serampas customary law communities, especially Rantau Kermas Village.

"Thank you to the Serampas Customary People, especially the extraordinary Rantau Kermas Village, congratulations, you are all great", added General Manager.

Not only that, Dr. Agus also said that this cannot be separated from the role of KKI-Warsi friends so far. "Thank you also to KKI-Warsi friends who have accompanied good practices in Rantau Kermas Village, customary villages, renewable energy villages, energy independent villages as examples of best practices of sustainable development carried out by communities," said General Manager again.
