“The educational activities around the Merangin Jambi Geopark area focused on the students or college professors at all levels. Formal activities, such as geology learning in every school that integrated as part of the school curriculum. Non-formal activities like education for special interest groups and cross-age visits. Then, for the research program, the Merangin Jambi Geopark has cooperated with Jambi University as a partner in the scientific field. It was a field trip managed by a partner to all the Merangin Jambi Geopark areas, especially at the fossil-themed geology site”.

Geopark Goes to School

At that time, Geopark Goes to School program was carried out in one of the agricultural vocational high schools (the Vocational High School 6 of Merangin). This school is around a row of hills in Mount Masurai river. The Management Agency team of Merangin Jambi Geopark carries out the introduction and cooperation with the Vocational High School 6 of Merangin to give development efforts of the Merangin Jambi Geopark. Thru this school, we expect that the Educational Program and Agricultural Development will be more writhe in the delineation of the Merangin Jambi Geopark. The surprising moments for the Management Agency team in this school are the students able to create good farming models already exist, like a great ground coffee product and coffee brand 6, a great coffee with the unique aroma and taste of coffee itself.

Thank you so much to the Chairman, the teacher council, and all students of the Vocational High School 6 of Merangin. The LTB, Mrs. Malla, and a team of Development Agency of the National Geopark are persistent.

Merangin Jambi Geopark Area as the Earth Laboratory of Jambi University.

The Merangin Jambi Geopark Management Body received a field visit from the Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology of Jambi University, Mr. Drs. Jefri Marzal, M.Sc.D.I.T.

The team will conduct geological tracking in the Merangin Jambi Geopark area in Air Batu village. The three geological sites as the main destinations, such as the Granitoid Rock of Air Batu Geosite, Teluk Gedang Wood Fossil, Muara Karing Leaf Fossil Geosite, and the Cultural site, namely Rumah Tuo in Air Batu village, which was accompanied directly by the Geologist of Management Body (Mr. Eko Wahyudi) for one whole day. 

The goal of the Introduction to Geology course visit of the Geophysical Engineering Study Program is to introduce the Merangin Jambi Geopark Area as the Earth Laboratory of Jambi University.  We hope every student or academic visiting the Merangin Jambi Geopark area can find out the uniqueness of the Merangin Jambi Geopark as a Research Focus Area for future development. 

Sunday, October 30, Before heading to Jambi, the Dean and his team visited the Geopark Information Center (PIG), ??located at Ujung Tanjung Muaro Mesumai (Biduk Amo), accompanied directly by Mr. Zainal Abidin as part of the Planning and Cooperation Division of the Merangin Jambi Geopark Management Body. They came to find out about geological, biological, and cultural diversity within the Merangin Jambi Geopark area.

Good afternoon to all the Geoparkian friends all matter. We pray that all friends are always in good health. Amen

Maybe some of friends are wondering, what is the relationship between the Merangin Jambi Geopark and the Scout Movement?

Here we explain a little bit. The Scout Movement is the Nation Bud. They will later become the next generation whose hope is to be able to manage the Earth's heritage well.

The enthusiasm of the Scout Movement of Merangin Subdivision was very high to know about some of the Merangin Jambi Geopark Programs, such as environmental conservation, waste management, and educational packages at the Merangin Jambi Geopark.

Mr. Eko Wahyudi was a geologist at the Merangin Jambi Geopark who was present as a guest speaker explaining to the Merangin Scout Movement about geological phenomena and rock types in the Merangin Jambi Geopark area, both the Jambi Flora fossils and the Masurai Complex.

We want to explore more about environmental conservation, said one of the participants. Mr. Eko smiled and answered enthusiastically.
